“El Duende de Ecuador”
Ink and Ink wash. This is an illustration of el Duende, or the goblin, as understood in Ecuadorian legends and folklore. He also has a very large head and hands.

Markers and ink. This is a drawing of a man who fell asleep watching tv, only to find himself being woken up by his sleep paralysis demon, who wants to watch some late night tv with him. This is another Inktober drawing.
“The Aswang is Here!”
Markers and ink wash. This is a creepy illustration of an Aswang, or in particular a Manananggal, a creature from Filipino mythology. It is a witch like creature that eats unborn children by sucking them out of their mother’s belly, according to some accounts. When Spanish explorers first arrived to the Philippines, they noted the Aswang was one of the creatures the inhabitan
“The Babi Ngepet Stole My Gold!”
Markers. This illustration is of a Babi ngepet, a shapeshifting boar-demon from Indonesian folklore responsible for the mysterious loss of a village’s valuables. Markers. This is an illustration of a Jenglot receiving a scratch behind its ears, as pictured in its home, a gerbil cage. “PT Barnum’s Mermaid”

“The Mourning Vampire”
Pen and ink. An Illustration of a vampire, who I drew as a human-bat hybrid, mourning the death of his best friend, a lowly bat, who the vampire is holding after his death.

“The Spider Scientist”
Acrylic and Digital. A painting of a human-like spider in a jar eating a cow, while a scientist with a spider’s head observes.
“Woe to Those”
Watercolor and colored pencil. Inspired by Isaiah 5:20, “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.” A role-reversal painting of an alternate reality where the game animals hunt humans! You can see the buffalo and deer relaxing in front of a fire place, and above the mantle hangs a
“The Ningen and the Whale”
Ink wash and graphite. An illustration of friendship. This is my depiction of a ningen, a Japanese cryptid. The creature is alleged to be similar to both a man and a whale; with white skin, arms and hands, and the body of a whale. I imagine the ningen here as friends with the whale.
